Vinod Reddy Lekkala – Researcher

Biography

During my academic journey, I’ve delved into the intricate realm of cell and molecular biology across various institutions.

Currently I am doing Postdoc with Dr. Deepak Lamba at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), Focusing on crafting disease-specific retinal organoids from patient-derived iPSCs. My focus extends to employing genome editing techniques to engineer these organoid models, contributing to the understanding of diseases and organoids development at a cellular level.

Prior to this, under the mentorship of Dr. Moo-Yeal Lee at the University of North Texas, I specialized in developing multicellular vascular HLOs using innovative developmental biology principles. Additionally, I honed novel protocols for generating endodermal organoids, specifically targeting the liver and intestine, by manipulating progenitor cells.

My doctoral research, conducted with Dr. Dwaiyapan Sen at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in India, centered around personalized stem cell therapy for myocardial tissue regeneration. I endeavored to enhance the therapeutic potential of human adult stem cells through a receptor-mediated signaling activation strategy.

My academic journey commenced with a Master’s and bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from SVIMS University and SV University, respectively, located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. During my Master’s program, I did research with Dr. PVGK Sarma on differentiating hematopoietic stem cells into alveolar cell types at air-liquid interfaces, further exploring the nuances of stem cell differentiation
